You just need a computer with a working microphone. Most laptops and many all-in-one PCs already have one built in. If your front-counter computer doesn't have a mic, or the built-in one is weak, grab an inexpensive USB conference microphone from Amazon (usually $20 to $40) and set it on the counter. A higher-quality mic gives cleaner recordings and slightly better accuracy, but the budget ones work fine in a typical shop. No special hardware or installation is required for in-person capture. (Live Phone Capture is the one exception, and it uses the QuickTap kit included with that plan.)

Tekmetric is live now. Support for Shop-Ware, Mitchell1, AutoLeap, ShopMonkey, and Protractor is in development. The extension also works standalone with clipboard export for any system.

Nothing technical. Install from the Chrome Web Store, sign in with Google, and open a repair order in Tekmetric. The panel appears and your trial starts. No API keys, no configuration, no IT. We manage the AI behind the scenes.

No. Audio is streamed for processing and discarded immediately afterward. No audio recordings are kept on our servers or anywhere else. We follow a strict privacy-first approach.

Recording laws vary by location, and many places require all-party consent. It's your responsibility to comply with local laws. We recommend posting a notice at your service counter and informing customers verbally.

There's a built-in clipboard fallback. If it can't locate the repair order fields, it automatically copies the structured data to your clipboard so you can paste it manually. You never lose a check-in.

Transcription accuracy is 99%+ for English, and the AI is highly accurate at identifying customer concerns, vehicle information, and symptoms. That said, we always recommend reviewing the captured data before finalizing a repair order.
